Many older New York homes still carry galvanized steel supply lines and cast iron drains. Galvanized pipe corrodes from the inside, so water pressure drops a little each year. Cast iron cracks and scales up. Both usually show up first as slow drains and rusty water.
Hard winters add another problem. Pipes along exterior walls, in crawl spaces, and in unheated basements are the ones that freeze and split. Abba's House LLC reroutes and insulates those runs during renovation work, while walls and floors are already open.
